Sschool SchoolSchooSchool Closure Thursday 27th June 2013

You will be aware from media reports that teachers in the NUT and NASUWT have called on their members to take strike action. This is an escalation of the action in relation to the trade dispute with the Secretary of State for Education over "adverse changes to pensions, workloads, conditions of service, including pay, pay progression and job loss". I have been notified that a significant number of teachers at Broughton intend to take strike action. As a result, the school will be closed to all students on Thursday 27th June 2013.

Welcome from the Headteacher

I am delighted to introduce you to Broughton Business & Enterprise College.  We are a popular, high achieving mixed 11-16 comprehensive school with a proud record of success.  We are located in a pleasant semi-rural environment in the village of Broughton, on the northern outskirts of Preston.

Broughton is a friendly, family orientated school where all children are provided with opportunities to experience the joy of success in a caring, dynamic and highly ambitious environment.  Our staff are well qualified and are prepared to go ‘the extra mile’ to help all children.  We are also fortunate to have supportive, well-informed and involved parents who want the very best for their child.

Our success can be measured in any number of ways.  Standards at GCSE are exceptionally high (2012 – 84% of students achieved 5 A*-C including English/Maths).  We are a High Performing Specialist School with Leading Edge Status.

Attendance 96% for 2011-12. There are almost 40 extra curricular clubs and activities with widespread participation rates.  Our school band and musicians are supremely talented and approximately 130 students have peripatetic lessons.  Our students are excellent and successful competitors in a number of sports.

The best aspect of our school is undoubtedly our young people.  They are polite, smart, well-behaved, respectful and extremely hard working.  You are very welcome to come and visit Broughton at any time and experience our unique family atmosphere.  Please contact me at school and I will arrange for one of our students to show you around.
