Maths is taught to all pupils at both KS3 & KS4. Maths has priority use of five classrooms, each fitted with an interactive whiteboard and computer. The department also has access to the school ICT facilities. The Maths department aims to show students the importance of Maths and for them to become more confident and competent in their use of the subject in a variety of situations both in and out of the school setting, as every employer and institute of further education needs evidence that young people are competent and confident in their use of the subject. In particular, the department aims to increase pupils’ proficiency in Number, Algebra, Shape, Space & Measure and Data Handling and develop their problem solving skills.
